Historical Society Headquarters and the Wyman Tavern


The headquarters of the Historical Society of Cheshire County (246 Main Street in Keene) has two spaces which are available for rental by individuals and organizations on a space available basis. The Historical Society is handicapped accessible and parking is available.

Exhibit Hall

Large meeting room with adjacent kitchen and flexible set-up possibilities for tables and chairs. Capacity: 80 persons at tables and chairs; 132 persons for other configurations. Lobby space is also available when the Society is closed.

Faulkner Room

Conference Room with table seating for 8 to 10 people. Suitable for small group meetings. .  Faulkner Room

  • For-profit and private functions:
    • $150/half-day

Wyman Tavern

The 1762 built tavern, on the National Register of Historic Places, is located at 339 Main Street in Keene. The buildings and grounds are currently used as a period house museum representing the period 1760 to 1820, and offers guided tours, summer camps, family activities, lectures, and special events. The Tavern is available May to November.

North Parlor

Meeting room with one bathroom. No kitchen facilities. Capacity: 30 persons. Not handicapped accessible. Available May through October. Limited parking in front of Carriage Shed (primarily for handicapped and loading/unloading). Parking on street or behind the Historical Society of Cheshire County (designated HSCC spots at 246 Main Street).

Wyman Tavern Back Lawn

Large grassy area, with limited parking for vehicles with handicapped plates and for loading/unloading.  Available May through October. Parking is on street or behind the Historical Society of Cheshire County (designated HSCC spots at 246 Main Street). If tents or portable toilets are required, arrangements can be made between Kathy Schillemat, rental coordinator, and the vendor for set up outside the contracted rental period at no additional cost.
