18th Century Kids Camp

where history comes alive

At the Historical Society of Cheshire County’s 18th Century Kids Camp, kids in 3rd to 5th grade will enter the world of Keene in the 1760s-1770’s. Campers will become a family that lived and worked in the community and would have interacted with Issac and Sarah Wyman at their tavern on Main Street. Throughout the week children will help run the local tavern; cook and prepare food; construct an outdoor kitchen; barter for goods at market; study 18th century blacksmithing and pottery-making; and play games.

When & Where:

Session 1 July 9-13 & Session 2 July 23-27
Wyman Tavern, 339 Main Street, Keene, NH
Drop Off: 9:00am. Pick Up: 3:30-4:00pm

What to Bring:

Campers should bring a snack, lunch and water bottle each day. Campers will dress in period clothing, including the walk to the Farmer’s Market.

Cost:

$225 per camper-  includes all activities, supplies. and period clothing rental.
Members of the Historical Society receive a $25 discount and pay only $200 per camper.

Deadline to apply:

July 1, 2018.

A full refund will be granted to those who cancel 14 days prior to the start of camp. A 50% refund will be given if the cancellation occurs 7 days prior to the start of camp. No refund will be given within 7 days of the camp start date.

 

Space is limited to 12 students per week.
