Walldogs Murals: Teaching Us History Using Artifacts

Grades 3-5. Mini Unit. This unit deepens students’ understanding of the role that local history played in developing the city of Keene’s Walldogs murals. It can also be used to introduce local artifacts/primary sources to upper elementary students.  Students will define primary sources and explore their connection to some of the murals.  Students are also introduced to using primary and secondary sources as a means of researching and telling a story about the past.

This unit was developed by Historical Society of Cheshire County director of education Jennifer Carroll thanks to the support of the Dewing Foundation, developing curriculum tied to the city of Keene’s Walldogs Murals. 2021.
