Women’s Suffrage

Grades: 4-8, Primary Source Packet. Did you know?!  Famous suffragist Susan B. Anthony spoke in Keene on two occasions.  This packet contains 12 original newspaper articles, transcribed, a timeline of NH voting rights history with emphasis on the Monadnock region, and photographs and biographies on known local suffragists. Collectively, the packet chronicles the rise of the women’s suffrage movement in the Keene, NH, region.  Article topics include: municipal suffrage, famous people who came to Keene, ratification of the 19th amendment, how women registered to vote, who could vote and who could not in 1920, and the women who ran for city office in 1920.  Request access to articles on a google drive.
