Commemorate a Milestone with the Tavern Keepers

Just last year, we celebrated 250 years since Captain Wyman Gathered 29 Minutemen on the front lawn of the Wyman Tavern and set off to support the patriots of Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts. Now, a year later in 2026, we acknowledge our nation’s 250^th here in Keene, NH.

Tavern Keepers are individuals who contribute $350 towards the historical preservation, upkeep, and educational programs at the Historical Society of Cheshire County, especially our 1762 Wyman Tavern and other wonderful facilities here in Keene.

In honor of our nation’s semi quincentennial this year, we are offering some special benefits for becoming a Tavern Keeper:

• One of our Tavern Keepers will win a travel package to the North Shore and Cape Ann in Massachusetts, which will include a one night for two at The Emerson Inn in Rockport, and two complimentary general admissions passes to the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem. ($450 value).
• Opportunity for a Tavern Keeper PLUS level by adding an extra $100 (small brick) or $200 (large brick) to your donation. Commemorative bricks will be installed between the Wyman Tavern and Bruder House, showing your support of the Historical Society for generations to come. (You’ll receive additional information if you choose the PLUS level)
• All of our 2025 Tavern Keepers will receive an invitation to the annual Tavern Keepers appreciation event, which will include a behind-the-scenes tour of the Wyman Tavern. You’ll also get a chance to hear an update on the Tavern’s Revolutionary War era carriage sheds and our plans to preserve them for the next 250 years. As usual, Tavern Keepers will have the opportunity to take part in a group photo for the occasion.
