The Historical Society of Cheshire County was founded in 1927, establishing itself as a distinctive regional history museum—the only county-wide historical organization in New Hampshire. It serves the 23 towns of Cheshire County with a straightforward but essential mission: to collect, preserve, and share the region’s history. It does this with exhibitions, lectures, workshops, festivals, school programs, summer camps, guided tours, publications, a museum store, a research facility and more. The Society works as a cultural hub to connect people to the past and to others in the community today. The Monadnock Region in southwest New Hampshire is known for its beauty, access to outdoor activities, vibrant arts and culture, and excellent cuisine. This region is also known for its vibrant local history and community engagement.
