It’s that time of year again — zucchini season is in full swing, and so is one of summer’s silliest unofficial holidays:
International Leave a Zucchini on Your Neighbor’s Porch Day! August 8th
To celebrate, the Historical Society of Cheshire County has created a special tag that you can attach to your porch-bound zucchini gifts. Each tag reads “Someone thought you could use a zucchini. August 8 is International Leave a Zucchini on Your Neighbor’s Porch Day.” Simply print the attached pdf or stop by the Historical Society’s headquarters to pick some up. It’s a fun way to spread some laughs (and some zucchinis) around the Monadnock Region this summer.
And it’s a perfect lead-in to our upcoming exhibit, Zukes No Cukes: the story of the International Zucchini Festival of the 1980s, opening September 2nd at the Historical Society of Cheshire County, 246 Main Street, Keene. Exhibit opens September 2, 2026, 4-6 pm
