Following a brief meeting of the Historical Society of Cheshire County membership, the public is invited to attend a presentation by special guest John A. Hodgson, Andover, NH, author of the book Richard Potter: America’s First Black Celebrity. The son of a slave, Potter became a nationally recognized magician and ventriloquist in the first half of the 19th century. In his later years, he purchased a large farm in Andover, New Hampshire. Hodgson will have copies of his book for sale at the event.
