Railroads and Rail Trails of Hancock and Harrisville
April 20, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Friday, June 8
1:00 pm to 2:00 pm
Join us for a very special exploration of our local railroad history. On June 8, Alan Rumrill of the Historical Society of Cheshire County will use historic photographs and records to paint a picture of the vital role the local rail system played in the Monadnock Region, with a special focus on railroads in Hancock and Harrisville. On June 15 and 22, we’ll carpool to various sites to see the remnants of this history firsthand and to explore the new ways these old byways are now being enjoyed. Cosponsored by the Harris Center for Conservation Education and the Historical Society of Cheshire County.
Dates: This Environmental Studies Institute course meets on Friday, June 8, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Harris Center; Friday, June 15, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Hancock Depot and Elmwood Station; and Friday, June 22, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Harrisville and Hancock Rail Trails.
