Signs surround us in our daily lives and have been doing so for over 5,000 years. They sell us products, warn us of impending danger, promote individuals and businesses, instruct us with tasks, and direct us as to which way to go.  The Historical Society of Cheshire County invites you to reflect on the significance of over 70 signs from our region’s past.

In an exhibit entitled Signs of the Times, visitors can explore the ways in which an artifact, like a sign, has the power to disclose secrets about the past.  The exhibit hopes to enhance one’s understanding of how cultural shifts and technological advances have impacted signage and its use in Cheshire County over time.

Exhibit hours are Tuesday – Friday 9-4 Wednesday until 8 pm and the first and third Saturday of the month 9-12 pm
