In the 70 years from 1906 to the mid-1970s, at least 19 youth summer camps operated in the towns of Nelson and Stoddard. Alan Rumrill will share a PowerPoint presentation on the history of those camps and discuss how they fit into the development of the summer camp movement in the United States that sought to improve the health and well-being of children by introducing them to outdoor activities.
