1776 was a year unprecedented events in the course of the American Revolution. The Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4th in Philadelphia, officially proclaiming America’s freedom from Great Britain. New Hampshire created the first state constitution in U.S. history. General George Washington crossed the Delaware River and captured British and Hessian soldiers at the Battle of Trenton.
