World Premiere: “A Journey to the White Mountains in Words and Music”

March 29, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

World Premiere: “A Journey to the White Mountains in Words and Music,” with Special Guests Howard Mansfield, Ben Cosgrove, and SALT Project

Historical Society of Cheshire County, Wednesday, March 29, 7:00 pm

Sold Out

This short film, the latest from the Keene-based production company, SALT Project, explores the history and art history of the White Mountains, and in particular, how landscape painting helped to invent the very idea of “wilderness” in America. Featuring author Howard Mansfield and composer Ben Cosgrove, “A Journey” is based on Mansfield and Cosgrove’s live performance now touring the region, unveiling New Hampshire’s natural and artistic heritage as you’ve never seen it before. Come join us for the film’s world premiere, followed by a Q&A discussion with Mansfield, Cosgrove, and the filmmakers.

The film will air in April on NHPBS, so this Historical Society of Cheshire County event will serve as an exclusive preview of that state-wide broadcast – as well as an appetizer for the main course coming up next month: a full live performance of “A Journey” at Keene’s Colonial Theatre Showroom on Friday, April 14!

A Journey to the White Mountains is sponsored by the Historical Society of Cheshire County and SALT Project. This film was funded, in part, by a grant from New Hampshire Humanities.
