On Friday, June 1, from 4 to 6 pm, the Historical Society of Cheshire County will host a reception in Keene for the opening of its art exhibit, All Around Monadnock: The Character and Heritage of the Monadnock Region.  Over fifty artists submitted artworks for the juried exhibition, which will celebrate the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the Monadnock region. The exhibit will run from June 1 through September 7 at the Historical Society of Cheshire County, 246 Main Street in Keene. Admission to the Historical Society is free of charge.

The public is invited to the opening of the All Around Monadnock exhibit, and visitors can expect to see the work of some of the Monadnock region’s preeminent artists as well as some of its rising stars.  The artwork will include oil paintings, watercolors, acrylics, pastels, photography, and mixed media. The artists have been encouraged to create works that illustrate what the region means to them and how it impacts their own lives.
