Tour of the Spofford Lake Quigley Murals
Saturday, August 5
3:30 pm
Meet at the Historical Society
“Quig didn’t have a lot of ready cash flow…we were sort of products of a barter system…the doctor who delivered me got murals in his summer cottage on Spofford Lake, which I hadn’t really known about until just a few years ago.”
Barney Quigley, as quoted in
Albert Duvall Quigley, p.128
The descendants of the doctor who delivered Barney Quigley will open their cottage on Saturday, August 5, at 4:00 pm, to see the murals painted by Albert Quigley in 1936 as payment for Barney and his mother’s hospital bills. According to Barney, “These murals go all the way up the stairs… and look like they were painted last week.” The murals depict life on a New Hampshire lake in the 1930s.
Space is limited. Please call or email the Historical Society at 603-352-1895 or hscc@hsccnh.org to reserve your spot for this unique, once in a lifetime, opportunity.
