Save the date for the Historical Society of Cheshire County’s featured summer exhibit, “Our Story: The Art of Community Connections in the Monadnock Region.” This juried art show will officially open with a reception on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 4:30 to 6:00 PM.

The exhibit showcases the work of over 40 mixed-media artists and artisans from across the region. Each artist has created works exploring their personal connections to the Monadnock region. The Society has once again partnered with guest curator Alicia Drakiotes of Marlborough, NH, to pull off this major event.

“This will be an exciting exhibition with not only 2D art pieces and photography, but it will also include fiber work, music, poetry, pottery, basketry, metal work, and more,” said Drakiotes. “I am very excited to see this creative endeavor come together the fifth exhibition of artistic work at HSCC. The very first creative exhibit I assisted with was in 2013 the ’64 Miles’ exhibit which honored the Ashuelot River. This current endeavor salutes and incorporates the relationships of the creators with their interactions within the Monadnock Region.”

“Our Story” invites visitors to experience the Monadnock Region through the eyes of its artists, featuring works that range from depictions of local landmarks and events to abstract interpretations of community relationships. Together, these pieces weave a tapestry of shared experiences that highlight what makes this region special.

“The Monadnock region’s identity has been intricately connected to its arts community for generations,” said Jennifer Carroll, Executive Director of the Historical Society of Cheshire County. “This exhibit offers a remarkable opportunity to see how varied their impact is here. Almost all of these works will be for sale. We’re especially thankful to each artist who has agreed to contribute a portion of the sales of their art to support our mission: to collect, preserve and communicate the history of Cheshire County.”

“Our Story” will be on display throughout Summer of 2025 at the Historical Society’s Putnam Exhibit Gallery at 246 Main Street in Keene, NH. Admission is free thanks to a grant from the Putnam Foundation and Douglas Toy Company.
